Round Up, Spring, and Random Thoughts

Blogging has been on the back burner for a while... but I decided to sit down and write about life lately.

Spring is great. The weather is great. UT is great.
I've been laying out and soaking up the sun lately. Living in Austin has made me appreciate being outdoors and the awesome, sunny weather. I even decided to be crazy and jump in the pool (bad idea - ice cold). I've been trekking around in my birkenstocks and t-shirts. It's fantastic. I've even been toting my new polaroid camera around and taking lots of pictures. It's so fun getting to hold a physical picture in your hand.

Round up was this past weekend (a weekend designated to greek events). It's not quite my scene, but getting decked out in KD gear and enjoying the sun was a plus. I even got to hold some baby animals and ate a lot of good food.

Lately, I've been reflecting on the friendships I've made here at UT. I truly am so lucky to have met the people that I have. I struggled at the beginning of the year learning how to put myself out there and get out of my comfort zones (which are pretty wide and hard to get out of). But, through KD, I have felt so loved and accepted and understood. This may be a shameless plug for KD, but through them, I have learned to love this crazy thing called college.

Being 20 is weird. Everyone is like, "Holy cow, you're old" and I'm just like, yeah... I am. It's crazy to think about what is ahead of me in this next decade... crazy life changes, I'm sure. But, I'm crazy blessed for the life I've been given thus far and can't wait to see what's in store for the next chapter of my life. Blessings all around!

Thanks for reading my random thoughts. It's nice getting them out there so I can avoid studying ;)

20

You guys, I'm twenty. TWENTY. How did that happen? Yesterday I was starting high school and getting my drivers license, then all of a sudden I'm a 20 year old. Goodbye teenage years, hello 20's.

My birthday was pretty wonderful. My family and John SPOILED me... I think I wouldn't mind having a birthday every month, just for fun. ;) John's birthday was the day before, so we got to be the same age for a day. But now, I'm a 20 year old dating a teenager... does that make me a cougar?

I'm so thankful for the 20 years I've been given and can't wait for 20 more.

Like Father, like Daughter

A lot of people say they have the best parents ever. I'm not saying that they don't have great parents, but I think that have the best parents ever. I know it's true.

This weekend was Dad's weekend for my sorority so my awesome parents drove all the way to Austin to see me. I was so excited, I was counting down the days till they got here. We saw a movie, dad played some golf (yay for philanthropy events! but sorry you're sore now, dad...) and ate a lot of good food. Having your parents come visit you really is the best thing. My dad and I are oddly similar sometimes. I usually think I'm exactly like my mom, but in some ways, I'm just like my dad. We crack jokes that only each other think are funny; he just gets me. I can always count on him to drag out a joke much longer than it should be with me.

Turning 20 in less than a month (what?) has been making me all nostalgic. On Friday night, we all watched Father of the Bride - a movie my family loves! Never have I cried during that movie, but Friday night was different. I could see myself and my dad in the movie, so cue the crying. When you have the best parents, growing up sucks. Because, you want to stay a kid forever so you can stay with them forever. I've been lucky enough to have parents that have been so involved in every part of my life. Growing up as their daughter has been the greatest gift. I love you Mom & Dad!
