Where are you, Spring?

I've always been a winter person. Always. Something about the fireplace and hot chocolate and big jackets always sound so appealing to me. But, this winter has been especially tough. It seems to be much colder and longer than usual. Maybe it's just that mid winter depression, but the sound of spring sounds so good right now...
So, to cure my spring obessession, I put together a list of some spring essentials that I will definitely need this season. Maybe this list will help you too.

1. Ray Ban Sunglasses - A good pair of sunglasses is perfect for spring, especially as we make our way into summer. I've always wanted a pair of Ray Bans and somehow I still don't have a pair. So, a pair of these is a necessity. Preferably the clubmaster style.
2. Bike - I have a bike. I already have an old, rusty, squeeks-when-i-turn-and-stop type of bike. So long story short, I need a new one. I'd love to get a good, durable one for college. Hopefully I can invest in a bike sometime soon.
3. Casual sundress - I need more dresses in my life. Usually dresses are only for banquets and homecomings, but a good, casual dress always makes for a better day. I'm always a little too afraid to get dresses because I don't want people at school to think I'm too dressy, but a flowy, simple print dress seems perfect. I'll definitely be needing a few of these this season. Forever 21, Gap, and H&M have some great cheap ones. But, Anthro always has an awesome selection.
4. Pride and Prejudice and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close - It is no secret that I love reading. These two books are at the top of my reading list as of now. They will be perfect when I have free time during spring break (when I'm in Seaside, Florida at the beach... Heck yes!).

Hopefully spring will be here sooner than later. But until then, I'll be dreaming of 75 degree weather, laying out, bike rides, and lots of passion tea lemonades.

Dear Mom,

Coppell has had it's fair share of deaths. Any town has. Some may say I've been lucky to not know any of the people who have died extremely well because the pain I felt is nothing compared to what true friends felt. But, anytime there is another death, it always makes me wonder what I would do in that situation. Especially if it was my mom. This week, Coppell lost one heck of a mom. I hadn't known her, but from what I heard she was awesome. Really awesome. My heart breaks for the family as they have to go on without a mom. To me, a mother is the glue that holds a family together. Without my mom, I truly have no idea what I would do with myself. Who would I vent to? Who would I cry to? Who would love me no matter what I did?
I love my mom more than anything in the world and losing her would wreck me. I don't thank her or tell her I love her or love on her as much I shoud of. Heck, I don't do even half of what I should do for her. So, I thought I'd thank her. Maybe reading this will make you want to thank your mom too. And tell her you love her. And hug her. Because, we won't have our moms forever and that idea is too scary to fathom.

Dear Mom,
Thank you for still making my lunch in the morning exactly the way I want it. Thank you for waking up at 6:00 am every morning to send me off to school, like you've done my entire life. Thank you for offering to pour my cereal, or help me with my hair, and asking if I slept well. Thank you for being there when I get home from school, with ready ears. Thank you for listening to me complain, complain, and complain and thank you for always being on my side. Thank you for telling me when I'm wrong, even though I clearly don't want to hear it. Thank you for always going to get mexican food with me and making me laugh until my stomach hurts. Thank you for letting me bother you while you watch TV and never telling me to go away. Thank you for letting me ask you a million questions. Thank you for running errands for me. Thank you for still offering to dry my hair after taking a shower and wanting to help with my makeup. Thank you for telling me I look pretty when I get all dressed up. Thank you for helping me pick out outfits and thank you for having a good sense of style... sometimes. Thank you for rubbing my back. Thank you for loving John and always having good boyfriend advice. Thank you for loving and reading and supporting my blog. Thank you for everything you've ever done for me. Thank you for loving me and proving to me that you will never stop.

Love, Madi

Sorry to be a bore...

It seems like there is nothing worth writing about these days. Unless you want to hear about my week of the stomach flu, but I didn't think so...

My week consisted of:
-Stomach flu
-Lots and lots and lots of Vampire Diaries
-Lots and lots and lots of naps
-good times with my Johnny boy (oh, I love him sooo)
-Dracula. Dracula. & more Dracula. (Thanks to a killer english essay)
-Trying to be healthy. But, I just had two big bowls of Fruity Pebbles, so that's out the window

So, as you can see, there's nothing that's been worth a post. But, I will say this...

I love John. I love his smile & his laugh. His stupid jokes and obesession with comic books. His eyes that are oh so blue. The way he just lays on the couch and pretends to fall asleep. The way he looks in plaid, button up shirts. Yeah, I really really love him. And now he's going to Yale and I'm not quite sure how to deal with that. Just 1 mile way from him is too much... and now 1,900 miles? Pray for me, that's all I gotta say.

Have a good week. January sucks, but we can do it!

Wait... It's finals week?

Finals week... full of late nights, tons of coffee runs, and hours of studying. Oh wait... not me! This week has been somewhat easy for me since I'm exempt from my finals. Wahoo! I've enjoyed sleeping in (well, sleeping in till 7:30, if you really call that sleeping in).

I only had to take one final this week which was Pre-Cal. Saying math is not my strong suit would be an understatement. Here's a totally candid picture of me studying for my exam:

Johnny boy does this new thing where he takes a thousand pictures and videos of me when I'm not paying attention (It's great, I know...) but sometimes it's funny to find a little gem like this one of me being stupid. Clearly, I'm very confused.

I'm looking forward to a 4 day weekend which calls for sleeping in, baking, lots of dog walks, and time with John. Oh & good news... John verbally committed to Yale University where he will play football there. Isn't that crazy? Wow, just wow. I'm so insanely proud of him

Have a good weekend! Go ride a bike or something. :)

Record Spinnin'

I recently purchased a record player... I'm pretty happy, to say the least. My parents pulled out all of their old records and I purchased a few of my own (MGMT, fleet foxes...). The record player turned out to be a little more expensive than I thought, with having to buy new speakers and what not, but i think it's worth it.

Saturday night, Johnny came over and we played with the record player a little bit. We listened to Mumford & Son's (my choice) and Steely Dan (his choice). My mom came up and listened with us and reminisced about her old albums. It's so crazy to think that when my parents were my age, they were listening to records like we listen to iPods. I'm sure in the future, iPods will be ancient and my kids will think it's crazy that we listened to those.

Life in the Past Month

This has nothing to do with this post. I just thought you'd enjoy it. ;)

Life in the past month has been fun & crazy.
I've enjoyed this wonderful time that is the holidays and I'm sad to see it go. It's crazy to think that next year at this time, I'll be in college. Like, what?

I've celebrated a two year anniversary, a Justin Timberlake concert, quite a few movies, several shopping trips, and quality time with John. Also, some college stressing along the way.

As you can see, my blog has been through somewhat of a makeover. It's still a work in progress, so bear with me. Get ready for more frequent posts! I've been a horrible blogger lately... I'm working on it, I promise ;)
